When it comes time to relocate there are many stresses involved as it's not just as simple as packing your bags, throwing them in the car and driving to your new premises.
Today we are involved in so many things that there is much more to consider so what we have done is compile a brief list of relocation tips for your reference and use to hopefully lessen the stressful time which comes with relocation.
What should I do before relocating?
There are some basics which you should consider prior to relocating and some of these are listed below:

Ensure mail redirection is organised well before the relocation date. You can find the relevant forms at any Australia Post outlet or by visiting their website which is www.australiapost.com.au |

You can even prepare a letter for all the companies or organisations you deal with and send this letter to advise them of your new address and the date of relocation |

If you are moving out of a rental property then make sure you give the agent enough notice and ask them what is required of you before you move out to ensure the property is left in 'acceptable' condition so your bond is returned in full |

If you're going to pack your own goods then make sure you box and label them with the room they are meant to go into in the new property. This makes for easier packing and unpacking at the other end |

Lastly, make sure you prepare an 'essentials' pack in the event that the electricity, gas or other utility is not operating in your new property on the day you arrive. Some of the items to pack would be things like flashlights, a first aid kit, mobile phone (fully charged), coffee/tea, long life milk, biscuits, canned food and so on |
These are just some basics, you can do more or less but the more you do leading up to the move the better prepared you will be and the less stress you will encounter.
What should I ask a removals company if I chose to use one?
If you choose to use a removals company firstly get at least three quotes and then ask them some important questions to prior to committing:

Does the quote include insurance for the transport and or packing of goods (if you choose to let the removals company pack your goods) |

What does the insurance cover and to what value? |

How do they expect items packed if you choose to do the packing? |
|
What time will they pick up and deliver? |
|
Ask if paying in cash will lower the end quote |
|
Ask if paying by credit card or cheque incurs a surcharge |
|
What is the process for insurance claims if the need arises |
Ask these questions and more to ensure you know exactly what you're paying for and what service you will receive.
